Job Title: SEND Learning Mentor

Location: Middlesbrough

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities Available

Salary: £15+ per hour (dependent on experience and responsibilities)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 4:00pm

Morgan Hunt is proud to be working in partnership with a specialist land‑based college in Middlesbrough that provides vocational education and training for learners aged 16+. The college offers hands‑on programmes in areas such as agriculture, horticulture, animal care, countryside management, and other land‑based industries, equipping students with practical skills for meaningful careers.

This is a unique learning environment where education takes place both in classrooms and across practical outdoor settings, including farms, workshops, and specialist facilities. As a result, we are seeking adaptable and proactive Behaviour Support Workers who are comfortable working across varied environments.

The college supports a significant number of students with SEND, including those with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, autism, and complex learning difficulties. Many learners benefit from structured pastoral care and behavioural support to help them stay engaged, safe, and on track with their studies and work placements.

Responsibilities

* Provide specialist behavioural and learning support to students across classroom and practical land‑based settings.
* Work closely with tutors, vocational instructors, therapists, employers, and families to deliver personalised support strategies.
* Contribute to and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets.
* Support students in developing employability, independence, and essential life skills.
* Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in both academic and practical sessions.
* Share best practice strategies with colleagues to enhance SEND and behaviour support provision.

Qualifications & Skills

* Experience supporting learners with SEND, ideally within an educational or vocational setting.
* Understanding of autism, sensory needs, behaviour management strategies, and SEMH.
* Confidence working in practical, outdoor, and land‑based environments.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, professional relationships.
* A calm, patient, and resilient approach, with a passion for helping young people thrive.
* Right to work in the UK.
* Enhanced DBS on the Child Barred List (registered on the Update Service) or willingness to obtain one.
* Ability to provide two professional references.

If you are passionate about supporting young people in a hands‑on, vocational learning environment and want to play a key role in their personal and professional development, we would love to hear from you. Apply today to make a meaningful difference.
