You will work in the Accessibility Standards and Strategy Team to test web products and provide consultancy and training for our learning and development teams. You will: Engage in a 1-year development programme to ensure you have a high level of knowledge about digital accessibility, assistive software and related legislation and standards. Consult with product teams, to help and support them in creating accessible web services. Deliver training sessions on web accessibility. Engage with and contribute to the cross-government accessibility networks. Roles and responsibilities: Engage with the Accessibility Development Programme to enable you to become a Web Accessibility Specialist. Responsible for building accessible interfaces that work across multiple devices and browsers. Work within a test driven development (TDD) environment with modern web development tech stacks. Write and share quality test-driven code, using modern frameworks and development techniques. Responsible for ensuring that the design and implementation of services is consistent, both internally and with the rest of wider UK government services. Responsible for seeing the bigger picture within which our servicesoperates to help define and maintain standards. Responsible for contributing to code reuse and contributions to shared repositories. Responsible for undertaking training to upskill on Front-end development techniques, methods and tools to further develop knowledge and skills. This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. Salary Information Pay for this role is from 44,447 to 46,547. The maximum salary for the grade is 46,547, however a Digital Allowance of up to 3,749 per annum is available for exceptional candidates. Digital Allowance is non-salary, and non-pensionable, and is classed as a temporary allowance. It is reviewed annually where it could be retained, amended, or removed. Things you need to know Selection process details This vacancy is using Success Profiles (opens in a new window), and will assess your Experience and Technical skills. Stage 1: Application Your application will consist of four parts: 1. A Personal Details application form. 2. Employment history - this should contain your work experience and any skills, qualifications and accomplishments relevant to the jobs you have completed. 3. Personal statement - up to 1000 words. This statement should be used to provide examples of how you meet the essential criteria below: Experience of agile development, software design patterns, continuous integration, test driven development and version control (preferably Git). Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience of identifying, locating and competently fixing faults. Strong interest in and commitment to accessibility. 4. Technical statement (up to 250 words). The following statement is aligned to the required technical skill of System Integration. Experience of front-end web development (HTML, CSS and JavaScript). The sift panel will use the information in your employment history, personal statement, and technical statement to assess your experience, skills and knowledge. Stage 2: Coding Test Candidates who are successful at the sift stage will be sent a coding test to complete remotely. The exercise will focus on the technical elements listed in the Essential Criteria in this advert. Full details will be sent to candidates when the exercise is issued. Candidates will have 7 days to complete the test from the date of receipt. Candidates that are not successful in the technical exercise will not progress to the interview stage. Stage 3: Interview If youre successful at sift stage and the coding test you will be invited to a video interview via Microsoft Teams.
