Quality Manager Base Location – Orwell Bakery, Lochore, Fife Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum (DOE) Full Time | Permanent | Monday to Friday (some flexibility required) Who we are: Bayne’s the Family Bakers have a proud history serving local communities for over 70 years. About the Role We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in upholding the integrity, quality and authenticity of our products so giving our customers the confidence that they will receive the quality and joy expected from Baynes Family Bakers every time. The Quality Manager will be key in supporting the site teams across all levels in nurturing a quality culture that flows through the heart of our business. The Quality Manager will work closely with the Head of Technical to drive continuous improvement by building, leading and developing a Quality team, offering specialised insights and providing essential guidance on all site quality and safety matters. It is essential you have proven experience working in a Quality Manager role within a food manufacturing environment, with a positive, hands-on, can-do, flexible and proactive approach. What You’ll Be Doing: Assisting the Head of Technical in developing the quality management systems and processes in line with legal, company and best practice requirements. Ensuring product safety and quality is maintained throughout the process chain by implementation, embedding and maintenance of a site wide Quality system. Providing support and guidance across all site functions and levels to build and nurture an effective food safety culture. Coordinating coaching, training, and information to enable site teams to deliver their quality and food safety role requirements competently. Training and mentoring colleagues on quality assurance practices and the importance of maintaining high-quality standards. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions. Leading, supporting, and coaching quality incident investigations to establish root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions, driving continuous improvement based on site trends. Leading, supporting, and coaching onsite activities to prevent and control all non-conformances, internal or external, through quality processes. Maintaining good relations and keep contact with any regulatory bodies associated with the quality function. Supporting the site management team with the implementation of change projects. Implementing and maintaining a robust system for documentation, from incoming materials through to finished product. Ensuring adequate monitoring systems are in place focussed on food safety, process control, good manufacturing practice and food handling. Seen as a key part of site HACCP team ensuring legal compliance. Liaising with Customers and Suppliers regarding day-to-day queries and issues surrounding quality. Assisting the Head of Technical in the recruitment and creation of an effective quality control team. Carrying out appraisals and set targets for the quality team. Deputising for the Head of Technical in their absence. What We’re Looking For: Proven experience as a Quality Manager in a food manufacturing environment (FMCG ideally). HACCP and Food Safety qualifications (minimum Level 3). Strong leadership, coaching and influencing skills. A hands-on, collaborative approach with excellent communication skills. Confident managing audits, developing teams and driving change. Strong IT skills and working knowledge of food legislation and best practice. Desirable (but not essential): HACCP or Food Safety Level 4 Lead Auditor qualification Previous experience in bakery production Why Join Bayne’s?
