Bridebook is a revolutionary wedding planning platform that seeks to make wedding planning an enjoyable, intuitive, and rewarding experience for couples, guests, and industry partners. Launched in the UK, Bridebook has over 1,000,000 planning couples and has been featured in major outlets such as the New York Times, the BBC, and the App Store. After six years and many iterations later, we have 2 in 3 engaged UK couples and 1 in 3 engaged German couples using Bridebook, and have recently expanded globally. While we serve a very emotional and creative industry, we are obsessed with using tech and data to revolutionise the industry. What will I be doing? As a Senior Back-End Engineer, you’ll help scale and strengthen our cloud-based infrastructure, building the foundation that powers our applications, features and data-driven decisions. You will be part of a high-performing team that values speed, sustainability and secure design—and that thrives in a scale-up environment. Our backend is powered by Node.js and Firebase, hosted on Google Cloud Platform, and integrated into our wider React/Next.js stack. A successful candidate will be excited by backend challenges, confident working autonomously, and experienced in building systems that support millions of users with minimal friction. Specific responsibilities will include: Designing and building backend services and APIs using Node.js Managing and scaling infrastructure using Firebase, Firestore, and GCP Ensuring backend performance, reliability and security across systems Collaborating with front-end engineers and product managers to ship impactful features Maintaining high quality through automated testing, CI/CD, and observability Influencing technical direction and helping shape backend architecture Documenting systems, mentoring peers, and contributing to a high-trust culture We’re looking for someone who: Has 6yrs experience in back-end engineering using Node.js Is experienced with GCP, Firebase, and document-based data stores (Firestore) Understands modern cloud-native architectures and scalable system design Has experience creating, consuming and optimising RESTful APIs Can work independently, owning large technical areas from conception to production Has experience with CI/CD pipelines and system monitoring/logging Is fluent in English, both written and spoken Is based in Europe and can work as a full-time contractor What if you’re a partial fit?
