Summary

The purpose of this role is to support the HR Officer in delivering a high-quality service across all areas of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training, and HR administration.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.


What you'll do at work

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

* Providing support with recruitment and selection activities including advertising and promotion of vacancies, dealing with responses, arranging interviews, issuing employment contracts and induction
* Ensure appropriate pre-employment checks are undertaken.
* Support the onboarding and induction process for new starters
* Organising company wide training, liaising with the trainer, facilities and employees to organise virtual and in-person training
* Maintaining HR records and systems including the input and verification of payroll data
* Maintain appropriate paper and electronic files
* Develop an understanding of HR policies and procedures to answer queries and give appropriate advice to managers and employees
* Respond to general/HR queries, seeking support and guidance as required
* Organise meetings and assist with preparation or production of formal HR letters
* Attend meetings in the capacity of notetaker, providing summary notes from meetings within a given timescale
* Support HR project work as directed and provide administrative support to the project as required
* Produce reports and analyse workforce data on a scheduled and ad hoc basis
* Provide effective general administrative support to the HR Team
* Undertake such work as may be determined by the HR Manager from time to time, up to or at a level consistent with the main responsibilities of the job

Course contents

* Service Delivery: Delivers excellent customer service on a range of HR queries and requirements, providing solutions, advice and support primarily to managers. Builds managers’ expertise in HR matters, improving their ability to handle repeated situations themselves where appropriate. Uses agreed systems and processes to deliver service to customers. Takes the initiative to meet agreed individual and team KPIs in line with company policy, values, standards. Plans and organises their work, often without direct supervision, to meet commitments and KPIs.
* Problem Solving: Uses sound questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and establish root causes before developing HR solutions. Takes ownership through to resolution, escalating complex situations as appropriate.
* Communication & Interpersonal: Deals effectively with customers/colleagues, using sound interpersonal skills and communicating well through a range of media eg phone, face to face, email, internet. Adapts their style to their audience. Builds trust and sound relationships with customers. Handles conflict and sensitive HR situations professionally and confidentially.
* Teamwork: Consistently supports colleagues /collaborates within the team and HR to achieve results. Builds/maintains strong working relationships with others in the team and across HR where necessary.
* Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities to improve HR performance and service; acts on them within the authority of their role. Supports implementation of HR changes/projects with the business.
* Managing HR Information: Maintains required HR records as part of services delivered. Prepares reports and management information from HR data, with interpretation as required.
* Personal Development: Keeps up to date with business changes and HR legal/policy/process changes relevant to their role. Seeks feedback and acts on it to improve their performance and overall capability.


Your training plan

HR Support Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:

As part of this apprenticeship, the apprentice will study the Foundation Certificate in People Practice accredited by the CIP

Apprentices will be required to attend a series of workshops to study 4 mandatory modules:

* Business, Culture and Change in Context
* Principles of Analytics
* Core Behaviours for People Professionals
* Essentials of People Practice

HR Support Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:

* You will also receive full training and support from the apprenticeship team to increase your skills
* Your training will include gaining a Level 3 HR Support qualification


Requirements


Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

* English (grade C/4 +)
* Maths (grade C/4 +)
