At Totally Local Company, an opportunity has arisen for a Cook in Charge with professionalism, sound judgement, and integrity to join our Catering team at Outwood Primary School.
Main Purpose of the Job
* Prepare and cook meals for children within budgetary constraints.
* Ensure compliance with nutritional standards and food specifications.
* Adhere strictly to health and safety and food safety guidelines.
* Complete administrative procedures and paperwork to standard.
* Supervise and organise catering staff, order stock, and plan food preparation and service.
* Manage receipt, storage, and stock control of all goods.
* Direct and supervise catering assistants.
* Implement cleaning regimes and record on schedules per HACCP policies.
* Induct and train staff on equipment, techniques, safety, and standards.
* Plan menus for theme days and promotions in coordination with managers.
* Complete and process departmental documentation.
* Liaise with school personnel, contractors, suppliers, pupils, and parents.
Duties and Responsibilities
* NVQ Level 2 in professional cookery or equivalent is essential.
* Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff.
* Prepare, cook, and serve meals, including special diets.
* Ensure health and safety standards are maintained.
* Manage clerical duties related to food, equipment, training, cleaning, and documentation.
* Train new staff on equipment, techniques, and safety.
* Manage deliveries and stock control.
* Provide catering for special functions.
* Ensure menu guidelines and nutritional standards are followed.
* Report equipment issues and maintain cleanliness and safety of kitchen and dining areas.
* Prepare dining areas for meal service.
* Perform other relevant departmental duties.
* Communicate regularly with school and company personnel, contractors, and parents.
