Job Description:
The Platform Storage team is responsible for architecting and building storage solutions to empower the ever-growing needs of data across quant research and trading at Squarepoint. We aim to improve storage platform efficiency and provide seamless user experience through continuous technical evolution. We are looking for a highly motivated software developer to join the team and work on a series of strategic projects.
Position Overview:
* Work with stakeholders to identify the requirements of the storage platform. Collaborate with other engineering teams to deliver end-to-end platform solutions for the business.
* Research industry-leading storage technologies (open-source, vendor), build prototypes, and integrate them into the Squarepoint storage platform.
* Design and build platform abstractions on top of various storage primitives to provide a simple and unified user experience for accessing storage.
* Design and build data orchestration services to support a massive scale of data footprint and workload across on-premises and cloud environments.
* Design and build solutions to optimize data storage and data serving efficiency.
* Responsible for storage platform operation, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and user support for team-owned products/services.
Required Qualifications:
* 5+ years of software development experience with a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or related area.
* Strong proficiency in at least one or more programming languages (Go, Rust, C++, Java).
* Proven experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex issues in large-scale backend systems.
* Experience with observability stacks (e.g., Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana) and Infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform).
* Experience with building platform solutions/services on major cloud providers (GCP, AWS) is a plus.
* Experience with open-source storage technologies (e.g., JuiceFS, Fuse, Ceph, Minio) is a plus.
* Experience with high-performance storage protocols (e.g., RDMA, GPUDirect, DPDK) is a plus.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
The minimum base salary for this role is $60,000 if located in New York. This expectation is based on available information at the time of posting. The role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, benefits such as health, dental, wellness plans, and 401(k) contributions. Compensation and benefits will be determined based on various factors.
