HR Officer
Temporary Contract (3 Months +), Edinburgh
A well‑established organisation within the transport sector is seeking an experienced HR Officer to join their team on a temporary contract for an initial 3 months, with potential for extension. This role requires a confident HR professional with strong Employee Relations (ER) experience who can provide pragmatic, employment‑law‑focused advice in a fast‑paced operational environment.
The Role
Reporting into the HR team, you will play a key role in supporting managers and employees across a broad range of HR and ER matters.
* Providing first‑line and escalated HR advice to managers and employees
* Managing a varied caseload of Employee Relations issues, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, and performance concerns
* Supporting investigations, hearings, and outcomes in line with company policy and employment legislation
* Advising on employment law, ensuring compliance with current legislation and best practice
* Supporting the application and interpretation of HR policies and procedures
* Assisting with recruitment, onboarding, and wider HR administration as required
* Maintaining accurate HR records and documentation
About You
* Proven experience in a generalist HR role with a strong focus on Employee Relations
* Solid working knowledge of UK employment law
* Confident advising managers on complex and sensitive ER matters
* Strong communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills
* Able to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
Contract Details
Contract: Temporary - 3 months +
Salary: £31,000 per annum (equivalent)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Working pattern: 9am-5pm with flexibility
Start date: ASAP
