Summary
The Global Quality Manager is responsible for driving improvements across the whole supply chain globally to achieve or exceed improvement targets in the area of quality performance. This role cascades targets to plants within the Business Unit and uses Operational Excellence methodologies to deliver improvements in customer-facing metrics, while reducing risk to Alkegen. Specifically, the role focuses on reduction in complaints received from customers and the underlying improvement in processes in manufacturing and aligned departments to improve the customer experience.
The role ensures that plants become and stay in compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO9001 / IATF16949) applicable to the business unit. The role also focuses on improving internal processes to deliver better customer satisfaction and reduced risk, engaging teams in the BU to operate with a “zero defect” and “zero loss” mindset. The key responsibilities include liaising with multiple stakeholders, coordinating quality processes from pre-serial production (APQP), and representing Alkegen with customers.
Critical to success will be a proactive leadership style that is collaborative, results-driven, and focused on developing individuals and teams, as well as building sustainable processes.
Responsibilities
* Quality Management: Act as a champion of the customer, develop and direct quality assurance policies, manage quality performance across multiple sites, and ensure compliance with standards like ISO9001 and IATF 16949.
* Safety: Drive continual safety improvements with no compromises.
* Continuous Improvement: Ensure plants operate with urgency, advocate for a zero defects culture, resolve quality issues via root cause analysis, and implement proven improvement strategies to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
* Team Leadership and Development: Influence and develop plant managers and quality teams, own the QA toolset, and promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
Key Competencies
* Lead by example with core values, motivate teams, communicate openly, drive results, manage change effectively, and demonstrate disciplined problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (Master’s preferred).
* Extensive experience in quality engineering/assurance, familiarity with IATF16949, AIAG, VDA standards.
* Customer-facing experience, lean methodologies expertise (L6S Black Belt preferred).
* Leadership experience in large manufacturing operations.
* Knowledge of supply chain, design for manufacture, project management, statistical analysis.
* Travel up to 50% may be required.
