Developer – Store Technology (Next)
Next, a FTSE‑100 retailer, is expanding its store technology team. We develop, test, and maintain cutting‑edge software for our 500 store estate, supporting over 28,000 users.
About the role
As a Store Technology Developer you will write, test, and maintain applications that run on Windows, Android, and Azure Cloud. Your work will include designing Azure microservices, integrating device peripherals (tills, scanners, printers), and enhancing the store staff experience.
Key responsibilities
* Develop and improve store software using C#, .NET Core, WPF, Xamarin, Android, Blazor, and SQL Server.
* Write Azure microservices and integrate cloud services (Cosmos, Azure AD, Azure DevOps).
* Fix bugs, create documentation, and provide support across a wide range of devices (PC, tablet, handheld).
* Collaborate with retail and technical teams to understand product needs and prioritise high‑value features.
* Participate in Agile SDLC, sprint planning, and DevOps automation practices.
Qualifications
* Experience with Microsoft .NET Framework, .NET Core, C#, WPF, and MVC.
* Strong knowledge of Azure Cloud and Azure DevOps/TFS.
* Proficiency with SQL Server 2012+ and device integration (RFID, Bluetooth, receipt printers).
* Experience with Android, Xamarin, or Blazor is a plus.
* Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
