About The Role
Hippo is recruiting for a Lead Data Architect to join our Hippo Herd. The Lead Data Architect will work in multi-disciplinary teams that build, support & maintain user-centered data solutions that deliver real value.
Responsibilities include contributing to data governance standards, designing solutions on leading cloud platforms, and ensuring security, privacy, and accessibility to enable business insights and data-driven decisions.
Note: We seek candidates interested in growth at this level. The salary band reflects the lower end of our full banding for this role, with progression opportunities.
Your role in a nutshell:
1. Define data architecture aligning with stakeholder needs and enterprise strategy
2. Build and maintain architecture artifacts like ER models, data dictionaries, ETL/ELT definitions, and data pipelines
3. Be accountable for architecture rationale and change approval processes
4. Establish governance standards to maintain architecture integrity
5. Set standards for data modeling, advocating techniques like Kimball
6. Analyze data sources, evaluate APIs, reverse-engineer models, create agile stories, support third-party specifications, and visualize insights
About the Candidate:
* Experience in defining data architectures for diverse stakeholders
* Knowledge of data lake and warehouse principles, with experience on platforms like Snowflake or Databricks
* Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
* Understanding of role-based access control and data privacy methods
* Strong data modeling skills, experience with data migration, OLTP/OLAP principles, and building data models
* Proficiency in SQL, with experience in Power BI or Tableau for visualization
* API evaluation skills, consultancy experience, and data pipeline design experience are highly desirable

Locations
Headquartered in Leeds with offices across the UK. Candidates should be within reasonable travel distance to one of our offices and be flexible to work on-site as needed. We offer relocation support up to £8,000.
