We are seeking Autism Learning Mentors to work within our partner Secondary and SEND schools in Darlington and Teesside. These exceptional settings offer a therapeutic curriculum and holistic approach to learning, incorporating elements such as Forest School, sensory-based learning, and creative interventions. The schools benefit from amazing facilities, on-site therapists, and outstanding support from Senior Leadership, with numerous permanent opportunities available for the right candidates.
This rewarding role focuses on supporting children with Autism and additional SEND needs, helping them regulate emotions, build confidence, and fully engage in their learning journey.
You’ll work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams to create a nurturing, structured environment where every child feels understood, valued, and empowered to succeed.

What You Need
* Experience supporting children or vulnerable adults
* The ability to provide two recent references (work-based or voluntary)
* An Enhanced Child & Adult Workforce DBS on the Update Service, OR be willing to apply for one through Milk
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored support to pupils with Autism within the classroom and wider school environment
* Implement personalised strategies to support emotional regulation, engagement, and learning
* Support pupils during therapeutic, outdoor, and Forest School activities
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, SLT, and on-site therapists to deliver consistent support
* Monitor progress and adapt approaches to meet individual needs
* Contribute to pastoral care, ensuring pupils feel safe, supported, and ready to learn
* Communicate effectively with parents and carers, sharing progress and celebrating successes
