JOB OVERVIEW
The Cook uses their knowledge and experience in food production to ensure the proper, timely, and safe preparation and service of food according to established recipes, while adhering to all food safety and sanitation requirements and maintaining a safe and orderly kitchen. Responsible to effectively manage all food production in the absence of the Dining Services Coordinator.
RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS
Responsibilities:

* Ensuring high standards for food taste and quality are maintained.
* Preparing and serving meals timely and according to standardized recipes and menus.
* Using production sheets to record food production, temperatures, and other safety measures.
* Preparing dietary modifications as ordered.
* Using Sunrise systems for order taking and meal delivery to ensure accuracy.
* Storing, rotating, dating, and maintaining food according to safety standards.
* Keeping the kitchen, storage, and work areas clean and organized.
* Completing cleaning duties and maintaining logs.
* Maintaining equipment logs and reporting issues promptly.
* Ensuring all cooking equipment is safe and functional, reporting issues as needed.
* Complying with safety regulations, including OSHA standards, PPE, SDS, and Lockout Tagout procedures.
* Performing additional duties such as dishwashing, janitorial tasks, equipment cleaning, and assisting in dining areas as assigned.

Qualifications:
* At least 1 year of related experience in food preparation, in settings like restaurants or hotels.
* High School Diploma or GED.
* Certifications and ongoing training including CPR, First Aid, ServSafe Manager, and Food Handler Card.
* Prior culinary training or apprenticeship is a plus.
* Effective communication skills, organizational and time management skills.
* Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities.
