Job Description: Handyperson – minor adaptations & low-level equipment installation- Grade F Job purpose To deliver timely, safe, and effective minor adaptations and low-level equipment installations in service users’ homes. The role supports individuals to maintain independence and safety in their home environment by fitting equipment prescribed by Occupational Therapists (OTs) and other health and social care professionals. Key responsibilities * Attend scheduled appointments in service users’ homes to carry out: * Installation of grab rails (bathroom, hallways, entrance areas) * Fitting of key safes * Minor internal door easing or removal * Toilet raisers and other toilet adaptations * Bath boards, shower chairs, and perching stools * Bed blocks and other bedroomrelated adjustments * Threshold ramps or other minor ramping solutions * Carry out basic assessments of fitting surfaces and take appropriate safety precautions * Safely use power tools such as drills, wall fixings, and hand tools * Work closely with OTs and the warehouse team to deliver a coordinated service * Provide basic instruction to service users and/or carers on the correct use of installed items * Ensure accurate record-keeping of all jobs completed, including photographic evidence where required * Maintain a tidy and safe working environment in service users’ homes * Ensure vehicles are stocked with common fittings, tools, and equipment * Follow all safeguarding, lone working, and health & safety procedures * Report any concerns around property conditions or client wellbeing to the relevant team Minor adaptations may include: * Drilling and securing grab rails into masonry or stud walls * Installing key safes to secure property access for carers or health workers * Fitting stair rails * Installing temporary steps or half-steps * Adjusting door thresholds or trimming doors to accommodate mobility aids * Minor bathroom modifications (non-plumbed, non-electrical) * Supporting temporary furniture adaptations (e.g., raising furniture) Person Specification Essential Proven experience in general repairs, maintenance, or DIY Confident using power tools and hand tools, including drills Understanding of health and safety, especially when working in vulnerable people’s homes Full UK driving licence Able to work independently and manage a schedule Strong communication and basic record-keeping skills Respectful and empathetic manner toward clients, many of whom may be older or disabled Handyman Handyman Handyman Handyman Handyman Handyman Handyman Handyman Handyman Handyman Handyman Handyman Handyman Handyman Handyman
