Head Resourcing is pleased to be working with a leading Life and Wealth provider in Scotland who are looking for an experienced Senior Developer to join their team in Glasgow.
This role sits within a central technology function that underpins the organisation's ability to deliver reliable, efficient, and user-focused systems for both internal teams and external customers. As a Senior Developer, you will play a key role in providing technical leadership across application delivery and support, contributing to both project-based initiatives and business-as-usual activities.
You will work closely with delivery teams, analysts, and senior business stakeholders to design and implement robust technical solutions to complex challenges. In addition to hands-on development, you will guide and support other developers, helping to raise technical capability across the wider application function.
Key Responsibilities
* Take technical ownership for the design and delivery of application solutions across project and operational workstreams
* Act as a senior technical lead, supporting delivery teams through complex and large-scale implementations
* Collaborate with business stakeholders and analysts to shape, validate, and refine technical solutions
* Provide clear explanations of technical and analytical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
* Drive adherence to development standards, best practices, and controlled release processes
* Carry out code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure quality, performance, and maintainability
* Support production releases and provide Tier 3 application support where required
* Ensure application code and configuration is managed appropriately through source control and CI/CD pipelines
* Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and team capability
* Mentor and train colleagues, supporting individual development and overall team growth
* Liaise with third-party vendors to ensure solutions are delivered to agreed quality and design standards
* Balance delivery quality, cost effectiveness, and long-term technology ownership
* Manage competing priorities and deadlines across multiple initiatives
* Ensure smooth transition of solutions into Tier 1 and Tier 2 support teams using standardised handover processes
Key skills and experience
* Strong experience in senior-level application development roles within complex environments
* Proven ability to technically lead teams through end-to-end delivery
* Experience working on regulatory change projects within Life and/or Pensions
* Hands-on experience with Sonata policy administration systems
* Strong SQL skills, including T-SQL and/or PL/SQL
* Experience writing and maintaining stored procedures and supporting data analysis activities
* Understanding of data integration and manipulation using Oracle tools
* Experience with GitHub and modern CI/CD pipelines
* Strong problem-solving ability and a logical, analytical mindset
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Desirable:
* Experience with workflow or case management solutions
* Exposure to MGM Talisman
* Experience using SSIS
* Knowledge of XSL
* Awareness of Java and API-based integrations
Salary:
Up to £67k depending on experience
