Some students need more than academic support - they need someone who can build trust, provide consistency, and help them navigate the challenges of school life.
We're currently working with a number of specialist schools across Andover and the surrounding areas, who are looking for compassionate, resilient individuals to join them as Learning Mentors on both flexible and long‑term placements.
No previous school experience is required. We're much more interested in your ability to build positive relationships, understand behaviour, and provide calm, consistent support to students who may be struggling emotionally or socially.
We’ll provide full training, guidance, and school experience before you begin.
Responsibilities
* Support students with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) needs
* Help young people regulate emotions and stay focused in school
* Build strong, trusting relationships with students
* Work closely with teachers, SEN teams, and pastoral staff
* Act as a calm and reliable presence throughout the school day
This is a hands‑on role where the support you provide can make a genuine difference to a student's confidence and progress.
You'll gain valuable experience in:
* Behaviour and emotional support
* Pastoral care
* SEN and SEMH support
* Communication and relationship‑building
It’s also a fantastic pathway into careers such as teaching, educational psychology, counselling, youth work, or social care.
We’re especially interested in hearing from people who have experience working with young people or supporting others in different settings, including:
* Sports coaches
* Psychology graduates
* Youth workers
* Support workers
* Individuals from care or mentoring backgrounds
If you’re empathetic, patient, resilient, and able to build rapport quickly, this could be an excellent fit.
* Flexible and long‑term Learning Mentor opportunities
* Weekly pay from £90‑£100 per day (PAYE)
* Free CPD training including safeguarding and behaviour support
* Opportunities to gain school experience before committing
* Ongoing support from a friendly and dedicated team
At Quokka Education, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do.
All applicants will be vetted in line with Department for Education guidance, including an online search as part of the process.
If you’re looking for a meaningful opportunity where you can support young people and gain valuable experience, we’d love to hear from you.
Apply today or get in touch for an informal chat.
Know someone who’d be a great fit? We offer up to £150 for successful referrals.
