About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic food technology teacher to join our dynamic department within a thriving West London school. This is an exciting opportunity to ignite a passion for food and cooking in students, equip them with valuable life skills, and foster a love of healthy eating.
* Curriculum Delivery:
o Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging and stimulating food technology lessons across the curriculum, catering to Key Stage 3 (Years 7-8) and potentially Key Stage 4 (Years 9-11) in line with the National Curriculum.
o Utilize a variety of teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and ensure all students can develop their culinary skills effectively (hygiene, food preparation techniques, recipe interpretation, healthy eating principles).
o Foster creativity and experimentation in the kitchen, encouraging students to explore different cuisines and ingredients.
* Curriculum Development:
o Contribute to the ongoing development of the food technology curriculum, ensuring it aligns with the school's vision, national requirements, and the latest advancements in food education.
o Stay abreast of current trends in healthy eating and incorporate them into your lessons.
* Building Relationships:
o Build strong and positive relationships with students, fostering their confidence in the kitchen and promoting a culture of teamwork.
o Provide constructive feedback and support to enable students to reach their full potential (individualized learning plans, targeted intervention strategies).
o Cultivate a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages experimentation and a love for food.
* Learning Environment:
o Maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
o Ensure the kitchen is well-equipped and organized for effective learning.
* Extracurricular Activities:
o Contribute to and potentially lead extracurricular activities related to food (e.g., cooking clubs, healthy eating workshops, catering events).
* School Community:
o Actively participate in departmental and whole-school events, fostering a collaborative spirit and contributing to the wider school community.
