Overview

Join to apply for the Geospatial Data Architect role at CGI.

Position Description

At CGI, we harness the transformative power of geospatial technology to drive industry change, improve public services, and deliver high-impact commercial solutions. As a Geospatial Data Architect, you’ll take a lead role in designing innovative data-driven solutions that turn location intelligence into strategic value. Working at the intersection of architecture and insight, you’ll collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams to shape scalable systems that manage and optimise geospatial data with precision and purpose.

CGI was recognised in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work List 2025 and has been named one of the Best Employers by the Financial Times. We offer a competitive salary, excellent pension, private healthcare, plus a share scheme (3.5% + 3.5% matching), making you a CGI Partner, not just an employee.

We’re committed to creating a workplace that is inclusive and welcoming to all. We proudly support the Armed Forces and hold a Gold Award under the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. When you join CGI, you become part of a collaborative, expert-led culture—where you can grow, contribute meaningfully, and take your career in any direction you choose.

This is a hybrid working pattern role and you may need to travel occasionally within the UK as needed – ideally you will be based within a commutable distance to one of the following CGI offices: London, Bristol, Birmingham, Reading, or Glasgow, but we will consider candidates from any UK location.

All applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) to Security Check (SC) level as a minimum.

Your future duties and responsibilities

In this role, you’ll architect geospatial data systems that underpin mission-critical services and emerging digital solutions. From shaping client platforms to contributing to CGI’s geospatial product roadmap, your work will drive data integrity, performance, and innovation across industries. You’ll be empowered to lead from the front—turning complex challenges into elegant data architectures that deliver lasting value.

Key responsibilities

* Design & Architect: Lead the development of scalable, high-performance geospatial data solutions
* Engage & Align: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and shape solution direction
* Lead & Support: Provide technical leadership and contribute to strategic bids and proposals
* Innovate & Grow: Enhance CGI’s geospatial IP, frameworks, and delivery models through continuous improvement

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring deep technical experience in geospatial data systems, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and a forward-thinking mindset. You’re motivated by solving real-world problems with data, and eager to shape the future of geospatial delivery.

Essential skills

* Proven experience with SQL and geospatial databases (PostGIS / ArcSDE)
* Strong understanding of cloud environments such as Azure or AWS
* Team or technical leadership in project or delivery contexts
* Effective communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable skills

* Linux environments (Ubuntu / RedHat)
* Geospatial tools like FME, OGR or GDAL
* GIS desktop software: ESRI ArcGIS Pro or QGIS
* Infrastructure as Code & DevOps: Ansible, ARM templates, Kubernetes or Docker
* Spatial database platforms: Oracle Spatial, MS SQL Spatial extensions
* SCRUM certification

Together, as owners, let’s turn meaningful insights into action

Life at CGI is rooted in ownership, teamwork, respect and belonging. Here, you’ll reach your full potential because…

You are invited to be an owner from day 1 as we work together to bring our Dream to life. That’s why we call ourselves CGI Partners rather than employees. We benefit from our collective success and actively shape our company’s strategy and direction.

Your work creates value. You’ll develop innovative solutions and build relationships with teammates and clients while accessing global capabilities to scale your ideas, embrace new opportunities, and benefit from expansive industry and technology expertise.

You’ll shape your career by joining a company built to grow and last. You’ll be supported by leaders who care about your health and well-being and provide you with opportunities to deepen your skills and broaden your horizons.
