We are seeking a professional, organised, and proactive HR Officer to join a busy school in Reading, starting ASAP. This is a key role supporting the leadership team with all HR and staffing matters, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with employment legislation.
The school has a strong inclusive ethos and values its staff. The HR Officer will manage HR processes, support recruitment, maintain employee records, and provide guidance on HR policies, playing a vital role in the school’s operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage recruitment processes including advertising, shortlisting, and arranging interviews
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date staff records
* Provide support and advice to staff and leadership on HR policies and procedures
* Assist with staff induction, contracts, and payroll processes
* Support performance management processes and staff development tracking
* Maintain HR databases and filing systems
* Ensure compliance with employment law, safeguarding, and GDPR policies
* Assist with staff absence management and record-keeping
* Coordinate HR communications between staff, leadership, and external agencies
* Support the overall smooth operation of the school office and administrative systems

* Have previous HR experience, preferably in education or a school setting
* Be organised, professional, and detail-oriented
* Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Be confident using HR and school management systems
