We are seeking a professional, organised, and proactive HR Officer to join a busy school in Reading, starting ASAP. This is a key role supporting the leadership team with all HR and staffing matters, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with employment legislation. The HR Officer will manage HR processes, support recruitment, maintain employee records, and provide guidance on HR policies, playing a vital role in the school’s operations. Key Responsibilities Manage recruitment processes including advertising, shortlisting, and arranging interviews Maintain accurate and up-to-date staff records Provide support and advice to staff and leadership on HR policies and procedures Assist with staff induction, contracts, and payroll processes Support performance management processes and staff development tracking Maintain HR databases and filing systems Ensure compliance with employment law, safeguarding, and GDPR policies Assist with staff absence management and record-keeping Coordinate HR communications between staff, leadership, and external agencies Support the overall smooth operation of the school office and administrative systems The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Have previous HR experience, preferably in education or a school setting Be organised, professional, and detail-oriented Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills Be confident using HR and school management systems Be proactive, reliable, and adaptable Be knowledgeable about employment law and HR best practices Be committed to safeguarding and promoting staff and pupil wellbeing The school is located in Reading, with excellent transport links and a supportive, professional community.
