Salary: £24,346 - £24,646 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional)
Hours: 25 per week, 38 weeks sessional
To undertake activities in a kitchen or dining centre connected with the provision and transportation of the catering service, either individually or as part of a team. The role involves providing a fully compliant, high-quality catering service that meets the council's aims and objectives.
* Perform skilled cooking activities related to a full range of meals and recipes.
* Complete food safety paperwork, including Cook Safe, allergen documentation, temperature records, and service specifications.
* Conduct daily/weekly audits of the service, such as cleaning schedules and Covid compliance checks.
* Manage stock by receiving food deliveries, checking temperature and quality, storing and labelling food appropriately, and rotating stock to ensure older stock is used first; occasional stock ordering may be required.
* Maintain hygiene standards within the kitchen, ensuring Cook 1's uphold high levels of hygiene, health, and safety, and reporting any hygiene issues to supervisors.
* Support counter setup and presentation of food, and assist in food service as needed.
* Handle cash transactions when required.
* Place orders for food and non-food supplies as needed.
* Assist in the preparation and delivery of special functions or events.
* Collaborate with the unit manager to cater for theme days according to service specifications.
This position involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate must join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If the candidate has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of these checks.
