Role: General Learning Mentor Location: Dorchester Start: ASAP We are looking to appoint a General Learning Mentor to join our School in Dorchester, supporting young people who need a more personalised approach to education. About the school The School provides alternative provision for students who have been referred for a variety of reasons that have made attending mainstream school difficult. They work closely with local schools and local authorities, with students referred from across Dorset. The aim is to re-engage learners, build confidence, and support both academic and personal development in a safe, nurturing environment. As a General Learning Mentor, you will: Support students with their learning, engagement, and emotional wellbeing Work with individuals and small groups to promote positive behaviour and routines Encourage confidence, resilience, and motivation in learning Support classroom activities and practical learning sessions Build positive, trusting relationships with students and staff About You A caring, patient, and resilient individual Passionate about supporting young people who face barriers to education Strong communication and relationship-building skills Experience working with children, young people, or SEN is desirable but not essential What We Offer A supportive and inclusive working environment Ongoing training and professional development The opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day Competitive pay, dependent on experience If you’re someone who wants to support young people to succeed beyond the classroom and help them re-engage with learning, we would love to hear from you.
