These posts are worked over 52.14 weeks per year and will require you to work shifts which will include evenings and weekends. They are annualised posts, meaning you will not be required to work during our annual shutdown, which normally lasts up to 7 weeks through the summer months.
Role location: Dumfries Ice Bowl. You will receive training in the Leisure Management till system and will undertake reception and clerical duties. You will deal with customers daily, requiring excellent communication and telephone skills and the ability to multi-task under pressure. As the first point of contact for customers, you should be enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable on the Ice Bowl programme and assist in selling and promoting key activities and services.
Qualifications and skills: Educated to Standard Grade or equivalent in English and Mathematics. Ideally you will have good computer skills and knowledge of software applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel. Moderate receptionist/clerical experience is essential. You will have experience of cash handling and dealing with members of the public. Experience of working within the leisure industry and knowledge of memberships and sales would be an advantage.
Regulated work: This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Additional checks: Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
