Frontend Developer Next.js & WordPress
£45,000
Birmingham
If you enjoy building slick, modern websites without being chained to legacy codebases or endless ticket queues, keep reading.
We’re working with a small but mighty Birmingham digital agency that consistently punches above its weight. Their sites are sharp, fast, and handcrafted — no page builders, no shortcuts. This is proper development: custom WordPress builds, headless CMS setups, and sleek Next.js front-ends with smart UX baked in.
They’re after a developer who’s confident in both WordPress and Next.js, writes clean code, and doesn’t need a hand-holding project manager breathing down their neck.
What you’ll be doing:
*
Building bespoke websites with custom WordPress themes and plugins
*
Shipping polished React/Next.js front-ends for high-traffic sites
*
Collaborating closely with designers and other devs to refine ideas and deliver stunning work
*
Occasionally tinkering with PHP or DNS/config when things go sideways
*
Helping shape their dev process, tools, and workflow — your voice will count
You’ll need to know:
*
WordPress (themes, templates, plugins — not just the dashboard)
*
React & Next.js
*
HTML5, SCSS, JavaScript (ES6+), Tailwind (or similar)
*
Gulp/Webpack, Twig, GraphQL
*
Git, and ideally some cPanel or WHM experience
*
A keen eye for accessibility, performance, and SEO
You’ll fit right in if you:
*
Have worked in a digital agency or fast-paced studio before
*
Take pride in writing clean, readable code
*
Enjoy collaborating with designers to make mockups pixel-perfect
*
Don’t wait for a 10-page brief before getting started
*
