Working within the Barnsley Schools Catering service, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the children receive a healthy, tasty meal.
About the post
Position: Catering Assistant (Silkstone Common Primary School, Tankersley St Peters Primary – based in Barnsley). Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 14:00. Term time only. Salary: £24,413 pro rata / £12.65 per hour. Contract type: Permanent. Working arrangements: Term Time only, Mon - Fri between 8am-14pm. See closing date information below.
About the role
The work is varied and may include basic food preparation. Reporting to the Head of Kitchen you will support in the setting up of dining areas, serving of meals and all associated cleaning duties in a busy kitchen. Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable but not essential. All training will be provided.
About you
The successful candidate will be positive and can-do, thriving in a busy environment. Working as a team to ensure meals are ready for service is a fundamental part of the role; therefore experience of working within a team and to deadlines would be advantageous. They should be able to deal with staff and pupils in a polite and friendly manner, utilising appropriate communication skills.
