Job Title: Library Sales Executive
Salary: £35,200 - £45,700
Location: Cambridge, UK – Hybrid (at least 2-3 days per week in the office)
Contract: Fixed term, 12-month contract
Hours: Full time (35 hours per week)
Overview
We are looking for a Library Sales Executive to join our supportive, dynamic, and collaborative UK Library Sales team. In this role you will sell digital products and services—including eBooks, textbooks, and journals—to UK universities, working closely with academic librarians to understand their institutional needs and recommend the most effective solutions. You will regularly travel across the UK to meet customers, attend conferences, and represent Cambridge University Press & Assessment in the higher education community.
Responsibilities
* Use excellent communication skills to develop and maintain good customer relationships and to work towards acquiring new customers.
* Manage a pipeline of opportunities, including retaining regular business and building up new business in the territory.
* Achieve and exceed sales targets with the specific list of UK universities assigned to this role.
* Attend regular internal meetings, feed into marketing campaigns, and share market intelligence gained from customer meetings.
* Travel to the territory and represent Cambridge at customer meetings (in person and/or via video call as required), conferences and industry events, ensuring this is kept within expenditure budgets.
* Acquire a good working knowledge of highly complex academic products and services for institutions.
* Negotiate and finalise agreements with customers.

You're a commercially minded sales professional with a creative approach to selling and problem solving, and a strong ability to build lasting customer relationships. You are confident in written and verbal presentations, adapt your message to suit different audiences and customer needs, are highly organised and self‑motivated, comfortable planning and prioritising workload, and value collaboration while thriving in a supportive team culture that balances independence with shared success, creativity, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements include a proven track record in sales roles, strong communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to manage a territory and build customer relationships. Desirable criteria are:
* Sales experience across journals, books, and textbooks.
* Understanding of the higher education system and marketplace.
