Markets Manager
Lead the operation of three vibrant town‑centre markets (Stockton, Thornaby, Billingham), driving commercial performance and ensuring the markets play a central role in regeneration, place‑making and community life.
Responsibilities
* Grow income and improve occupancy.
* Attract, recruit and retain a diverse, high‑quality mix of traders.
* Deliver safe, well‑managed and welcoming markets.
* Deliver market specific events.
* Manage a diverse cohort of independent traders.
* Promote the markets as exciting destinations, including positive use of Facebook and Instagram.
* Ensure compliance with Market Regulation & Quality Standards (2026).
* Work closely with Town Centre Manager, Assistant Town Centre Manager, traders, council services and external partners to boost footfall, enhance customer experience and strengthen the identity of each town centre.
Requirements
• Must be able to work Saturdays as part of the working week.
• All applicants must provide valid proof of right to work in the UK. The Council will only proceed with an appointment once this has been verified.
• Visa sponsorship is only available for a small number of specific roles; it is not guaranteed for this role.
