Quality Manager

Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm
From £43,000 to £47,000 depending on experience
The Role
The main purpose of the Quality Manager is to ensure the company remains compliant with the requirements of the current quality standard and that all documentation to support the system is accurate and readily available. All occurrences raised through the QMS are suitably and efficiently addressed whilst supporting the company's continual improvement efforts.
Responsibilities
* Accurately complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner.
* Work to assigned procedures as defined in the Quality Management System and Management Review decisions.
* Maintain and monitor the Quality Management System effectively.
* Resolve appropriate non-conformities within the Quality Management System.
* Ensure timely and effective action is taken by appropriate personnel to obtain and maintain compliance with the quality system.
* Conduct regular management reviews of the Quality Management System.
* Support combined internal audit schedule.
* Organise, prepare data, etc. for regular non-conformance reviews – customer complaints & process non-conformance and monitor QMS objectives.
* Effectively implement corrective/preventive actions for non-conformances, validated appropriately.
* Resolve quality problems arising from customer or supplier complaints, production and QC testing.
* Maintain the Company Quality Manual, system registration and revision procedures and liaise with certification representative as required.
* Set annual quality objectives and monitor progress, providing regular updates to management.
* Maintain quality system records as detailed in the manual (review minutes, complaint meetings, occurrence reports, trend analysis data).
* Develop new quality systems and update existing systems as required.
* Liaise with customers and suppliers on quality matters.
* Hold departmental managers and supervisors accountable for performance and standards, providing support and guidance.
* Take responsibility for documents within the QMS.
* Carry out internal audits as requested, complete reports, issue actions and follow up.
* Complete Quality Meetings & Reports on an annual, quarterly and weekly basis.
* Record and manage actions from quality meetings.
* Immediately report any incident to management using appropriate reporting systems.
* Respond to required corrective and preventive action in a timely manner.
* Ensure all duties/activities in the quality department are carried out in compliance with Health, Safety, Environment and Quality management systems.
The Candidate
Essential Skills / Knowledge / Experience
* Minimum of 5 years' experience within Quality Assurance or similar industry.
* Ability to complete root cause analysis and contribute to investigations.
* Excellent understanding of QMS and ISO 9001:2015.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Experience of KPIs & setting objectives.
* A desire to work with team members to improve processes and product quality.
* Excellent attention to detail, including housekeeping.
* Good knowledge of documentation practice.
* Able to use Microsoft Office.
* Good understanding of sampling and product testing.
* Familiar with management systems 14001 & 45001.
* Previous experience in manufacture or chemical industry.
* Understanding of chemical processes.
* Competent in developing and implementing management systems procedures and policies.
Desirable Skills / Knowledge / Experience
* Experience in leading QMS audits.
* Lead Auditor 9001.
* Lead Auditor 14001 & 45001.
* BTEC / HNC (or equivalent) in relevant subject.
* Educated to Degree level in relevant subject.
Qualifications
* Lead Auditor 9001 – Essential.
* Lead Auditor 14001 & 45001 – Desirable.
* BTEC / HNC (or equivalent) – Desirable.
* Degree level in relevant subject – Desirable.
