The principal is an 87-year-old gentleman living independently and would greatly benefit from the consistent support of a trustworthy professional. The area offers a peaceful countryside lifestyle, surrounded by beautiful Somerset landscapes, making it an ideal role for a calm, dependable, and long-term-minded candidate with driving skills.
Working as a professional Housekeeper Cook in a private residence requires a well-organised, pro-active, and conscientious approach. This role combines high-standard housekeeping with simple, nutritious home cooking, tailored to the principal’s preferences. Although the principal has dementia, no medical or personal care is required. The focus of the role is to ensure the household runs smoothly, remains clean and well maintained, and that the principal is supported with daily practical tasks, allowing him to continue living comfortably and safely in his own home.

This is a live-out position based in a rural countryside location. Due to the nature of the property and the requirement to drive the principal to appointments and errands, a confident driver is essential. An automatic vehicle is provided by the principal for work-related duties, making driving skills a key requirement for this role.
Main duties of the Full-Time Housekeeper Cook:
* Maintaining the farmhouse to a consistently high standard of cleanliness across all rooms.
* Managing laundry duties, including washing, drying, ironing, and changing bed linens.
* Preparing simple, fresh, and nutritious British meals tailored to the principal’s preferences, such as shepherd’s pie and beef Stroganoff.
* Driving the principal to appointments, errands, and local outings using the provided automatic vehicle.
* Overseeing and liaising with contractors to ensure maintenance work is completed appropriately.
* Shopping for household supplies and groceries.
* Providing light administrative support, including ensuring important emails are read and understood by the principal.
* Offering reliable, steady, and reassuring support in a household where the principal has dementia, without providing medical or personal care.
Requirements for this Full-Time Housekeeper Cook job:
* Three or more years of private housekeeper cook experience.
* Two excellent checkable references.
* Conversational English.
