Role overview
We are looking for someone with catering experience in an education or care based setting who would be able to plan, prepare, cook and serve meals to school pupils visiting The Hive environmental education centre on residential trips.
Meals required are:
Breakfast (hot and cold options, will require preparation, cooking and serving)
Lunch (cold options, will be served by other team members)
Dinner (hot options, will require preparation, cooking and serving)
The Hive is located within Epping Forest with no access to public transport, therefore an alternative mode of transport will be required for the candidate the access the site.
Role purpose
The purpose of the role is to cover a short-term gap in catering provision between our existing provider ceasing operations and a new member joining the team to take over.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning, preparing and serving healthy and nutritious meals
Keeping kitchen facilities spotless
Ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are met
Ensuring dietary and allergen requirements are met
Managing stock, supplies, and deliveries
Qualifications and Requirements:
We need someone who is:
Experienced in food preparation for approximately 60 people at a time
Flexible, proactive, and able to work independently
Comfortable juggling tasks and solving problems on the go
Able to work evenings and weekends as and when required
Holds an up-to-date enhanced DBS certificate
Ideally holds a valid driving license (due to our remote location)
Qualifications:
GCSE English and Maths (grade C/4) or equivalent (required)
Food hygiene level 2 (required)
Allergen awareness qualification (desired)
Relevant NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification (desired)
