We are looking for a passionate and reliable Café Cook to join our friendly team at our busy garden centre café. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys preparing fresh, wholesome meals and takes pride in delivering high-quality food in a relaxed, customer-focused environment.
The Café Cook will be responsible for preparing a range of hot and cold dishes, including breakfasts, lunches, and baked goods, with a focus on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and cook food to order following the café menu and daily specials.
* Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness at all times.
* Assist in menu planning and creating seasonal specials.
* Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and deliveries.
* Ensure the kitchen is clean, organized, and compliant with food safety standards.
* Work collaboratively with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
* Occasionally support baking or preparation of cakes, pastries, and other items as required.
* Adhere to all health and safety, allergy, and dietary requirement regulations.
Skills & Experience:
* Previous experience as a cook, chef, or kitchen assistant (café or similar environment preferred).
* Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 minimum); Level 3 desirable.
* Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen best practices.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple orders during busy periods.
* Positive attitude, team player, and good communication skills.
* Flexibility to work weekends and some holidays as required.
