Role Description
This is a full-time, on‑site Trainee Sales Executive role based at Toomey Motor Group in Southend‑On‑Sea. The Trainee Sales Executive will learn how to welcome and engage customers in the showroom, understand their needs, and support the sales team in recommending suitable vehicles and products. Daily tasks include assisting with test drive arrangements, preparing quotations, updating customer records, and following up on sales leads under the guidance of experienced colleagues. The role also involves maintaining vehicle displays, ensuring product information is up to date, and supporting the completion of sales documentation and finance applications in line with company procedures. The successful trainee will work closely with the wider team, participate in training sessions, and progressively take on more responsibility as skills and confidence grow.
Qualifications
* Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and listen actively to customer needs.
* Interest in vehicle products and the automotive industry, with the willingness to learn about multiple brands and models.
* Basic sales or retail experience is beneficial, including confidence in presenting options, handling objections, and following up leads.
* Good organizational and administrative abilities, including accurate record‑keeping, attention to detail, and time management.
* Comfortable using computers and digital systems for customer databases, email, and basic office applications.
* Positive, proactive attitude with a strong work ethic, reliability, and readiness to learn from structured training and on‑the‑job coaching.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast‑paced showroom environment, including some weekend and flexible hours as required.
* Full UK driving license (or working towards obtaining one) is highly advantageous.
* GCSEs or equivalent in English and Mathematics preferred; further education or vocational qualifications in sales, business, or customer service are a plus.
