Location: Ellesmere Port (fully onsite working with occasional business travel)

Contract: full-time, permanent

Hours: Mon-Thurs 0830-1730 & Fri 0830-1530 (1 hour lunch)

Salary: £45K - £50K p/a + discretionary 10% annual bonus

What you'll do:

As a Human Resources Manager based in Ellesmere Port with a competitive salary package on offer, you will be at the heart of delivering commercially focused HR solutions that support business objectives. Your days will be varied-ranging from providing hands‑on advice to managers navigating complex employee relations issues to overseeing robust recruitment campaigns that attract top talent. * Provide expert guidance, coaching, and support to managers on all aspects of employee relations including disciplinary matters, grievances, absence management, capability issues, redundancy processes, restructuring activities, and settlement negotiations.
* Manage complex and high‑risk employee relations cases from start to finish, ensuring outcomes are fair, legally compliant, and aligned with commercial objectives.
* Lead thorough investigations into sensitive matters and support formal hearings by ensuring procedural accuracy and consistency throughout each process.
* Develop, review, and implement HR policies in accordance with UK employment legislation and ACAS best practice guidelines while communicating updates effectively to stakeholders.
* Build strong relationships across departments to foster continuous improvement in people management practices and overall organisational effectiveness.
* Oversee end‑to‑end recruitment processes including job design, advertising roles, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, advising on remuneration packages, and ensuring fair onboarding procedures.
* Coordinate company‑wide training initiatives by maintaining the training matrix, identifying needs through performance reviews or operational requirements, and advising managers on development opportunities.
* Maintain accurate HR system data relating to employee records, contractual changes, absence tracking, benefits administration; lead improvements or implementations as required.
* Produce detailed HR reports for senior leadership teams and the Board while supporting data migration projects to ensure GDPR compliance.
* Collaborate cross‑functionally with Payroll, Finance, IT departments as well as external providers such as recruitment agencies or Occupational Health services.

* Demonstrated ability to develop clear HR policies that align with legal requirements while being easily understood by stakeholders at all levels.
* Strong investigative skills paired with meticulous case management abilities; able to handle sensitive situations confidentially and professionally.
* Excellent communication skills-both written and verbal-with an empathetic approach that builds trust among colleagues across departments.
* Proficiency using HR information systems (such as COINS HR or similar) alongside advanced Microsoft Office capabilities for reporting purposes.
* Experience leading recruitment campaigns from job design through onboarding; adept at ensuring fairness throughout selection processes.
* Ability to coordinate training programmes tailored to business needs while maintaining comprehensive records for compliance purposes.
* Chartered or Associate CIPD membership is essential; ideally supported by an HR‑related degree or equivalent qualification.
* Willingness to travel within Northern and Midlands regions when required; adaptable enough to attend meetings or site visits flexibly.
