Key Responsibilities:
* Is entirely responsible for activities on site as regards to health and safety and delivery to programme.
* Vets the quality control of all trades on site. Ensures they produce a sample area/room to guarantee quality control when they start. Ensures quality is delivered and performance fed back to the Quantity Surveyor for payment.
* Completes Materials Received sheet to allow comparison to buying procurement.
* Ensures site team carries out all their own material requisitions so the site takes full ownership of deliveries.
* Continually reviews the programme and proposes revisions to their Senior Site Manager (if one) and Project Manager/Contracts Manager.
* Has the responsibility for ensuring all activities on site to enhance the company reputation.
* Has the responsibility of planning and delivering all activities on site to enhance the business reputation.
* Raises RFIs and other queries to consultants, ensures their timely response and highlights associates delays.
* Vets’ fabrication drawings from subcontractors before sending to the consultant for their approval.
* Fully complies with all procedures and suggests areas for improvement if they are not happy with the procedures.
* Reviews progress with the Contracts Manager on a weekly basis. Submits the formal position prior to each progress meeting.
* Works to target programmes based on the weekly review for all projects over £1m developed in conjunction with the Contracts Manager.
* Drives the programme and ensures completion on programme. Monitors construction activities and takes actions as necessary to ensure delivery on programme.
* Updates the as built programme weekly.
* Compiles the H&S file as the project progresses.
Compliance:
* Identifies all health, safety and environmental risks and ensures their control using the company procedures.
* Develops for own operatives all RAMS and reviews and approves all RAMS for subcontractors as part of planning their work.
* Is part of the pre-let interview for all proposed subcontractors and is part of the decision-making process for appointing the appropriate subcontractor.
* Is required to ensure that corrective action is instigated in cases where non-conformance on site is identified, and the issue closed out. Reviews actions to control and prevent reoccurrence, including recommending system improvements to their Senior Site Manager (if present) and Contracts Manager.
People Management:
* Leads their site team including Assistant Site Manager (if present), operatives and subcontractors to maximise their performance and their output.
* Plans the work to maximise the efficiency in which operatives and subcontractors work. Where feasible, provides dedicated areas for each trade which specific agreed timescales for completion.
* Assesses performance of teams and provides constructive feedback on performance.
* Assists with appraisals if required.
* Liaises on a day-to-day basis with clients and/or their representatives to resolve immediate issues, ensuring their needs are satisfied and that a construction relationship with internal and external customers is maintained
