We are currently seeking a Student Data Quality Manager, who will report to the Head of Data Quality. The role involves providing leadership and management for a small team responsible for developing and maintaining data quality monitoring and audit activities in relation to our student record. The Data and Insights Service plays a critical role within BSU in relation to the management and governance of data, the provision of strategic insight and the delivery of statutory reporting.
Responsibilities
* Lead a small specialist team focused on enhancing the quality of student data and improving processes across the student record system and wider student journey.
* Oversee daily audit activities and manage an ongoing programme of audits.
* Collaborate with colleagues across the university to identify opportunities for better data collection and processing.
* Communicate data quality requirements, address issues, and support key initiatives and statutory submissions in line with institutional priorities.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience of line-management and/or managing a team.
* Experience working to improve data quality and related processes within a higher education student records setting.
* Experience reviewing and analysing records and data to identify anomalies and formulate options for addressing them.
* Good interpersonal skills and the ability to tailor oral and written information for different audiences.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and persistence to resolve challenges.
* Experience collaborating with teams and colleagues across an organisation to achieve a common goal.
* Experience using SITs (student record system).
* Experience using PowerBI dashboards and creating basic queries.
* May need to work outside normal hours for conferences, public events, etc.
* Hybrid working – one day per week on campus.
* Some travel required for on‑site audit visits (all within England).
Salary & Grade
Salary Grade 7 – Starting from £38,784 rising to £43,482 per annum. The range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
