We are looking for an outstanding Part-Time Cook who is passionate about food and wants to make a difference to join our team at Devon Lodge. You’ll be working 15 hours a week (either Saturday and Sunday or 3 pm till 6 pm Monday to Friday) at Devon Lodge, creating an excellent experience for the people in our care.
Devon Lodge is a specialist residential service for adults with autism and learning disabilities, who may have behaviours that challenge. We aim to provide a safe, comfortable and effective environment, promoting independence and community integration. Person-centred planning is at the heart of everything we do, based on each person’s specific needs.
Located in Hedge End, Southampton, Devon Lodge has 12 placements; eight in the main house and four in the annexe. The service has plenty of rest and recreation areas, both inside and outside in the large garden, providing a safe and homely environment.
Responsibilities
* Prepare, cook & serve nutritional, balanced and appetising meals
* Provide special diets, taking into account individual preferences and needs
* Liaise with nursing colleagues to meet patients' nutritional and dietary needs
* Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas and dining room
* Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and Food Hygiene Regulations
* Handle, maintain and store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
* Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health COSHH regulations

You are
* A skilled Cook who can work under pressure
* Preferably experienced in the care sector
* Able to plan nourishing and attractive menus within available budgets
* The holder of a food hygiene certificate, with good personal hygiene standards
* Polite and professional, with a positive attitude to internal and external inquiries at all times
* An excellent communicator able to liaise with people at all levels
* Able to work under your own initiative, as part of a team and under supervision
* Qualified in catering to City and Guilds 1 and 2 level or NVQ Level 2/3
