Head of Estates Salary: £70,000£80,000 Hours: 37.5 per week Location: On-site (West London) A leading independent school is seeking an exceptional Head of Estates to shape and deliver the long-term vision for its multi-site estate. This is a senior, highly strategic role driving excellence across capital development, compliance, sustainability and operational resilience. Key Strategic Responsibilities Lead the schools long-term estates strategy, ensuring the estate supports future educational, organisational and sustainability goals. Drive major capital investment programmes, overseeing the planning, procurement and delivery of refurbishment and development projects. Provide senior leadership on compliance and risk, ensuring robust frameworks for statutory responsibilities, H&S governance and emergency planning. Shape and deliver the environmental and decarbonisation strategy, introducing innovations that enhance energy performance and sustainability. Set and manage multi-million-pound budgets, ensuring strong financial control, effective forecasting and value-for-money procurement. Develop and inspire the Estates & Facilities team, building a high-performance culture with exceptional service standards. Strengthen key partnerships with external contractors, regulatory bodies, insurers, community stakeholders and senior leaders across the school. Optimise space planning and long-term asset management, ensuring efficient, future-focused use of buildings and grounds. About You Senior estates/facilities leader with experience in complex, multi-site environments. Strong strategic thinker with a track record of delivering capital programmes and organisational improvements. Experienced in compliance, risk management, long-term planning and contract performance. Confident leader with excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and team development skills. Professionally qualified (NEBOSH, IOSH, BIFM or equivalent).
