About the Role:
Anderson Knight Recruitment are working with a professional services firm who are looking for an experienced and proactive HR Manager to join their business for a 6-month fixed term contract, with a strong potential for the role to become permanent. This is a unique opportunity to be the first dedicated HR hire, working closely with senior leadership to build the HR function from the ground up during a critical period of transformation and growth.
Our clients firm is undergoing significant change and modernisation, including the implementation of new technology and systems, and scaling our operations to meet increased client demand. You’ll be instrumental in shaping a people strategy that supports our ambitious goals while laying the foundations for a high-performing and engaged workforce.
Key Responsibilities:
* Establish and embed the HR function across the business, developing fit-for-purpose processes, systems, and policies.
* Act as a trusted adviser to leadership and line managers on all HR matters including employee relations, performance, engagement, and organisational design.
* Develop and implement core HR infrastructure – including contracts, policies, employee handbook, onboarding/offboarding, and performance frameworks.
* Lead recruitment and talent acquisition activity in collaboration with hiring managers, helping to attract and retain high-calibre professionals.
* Partner with leadership to support ongoing business transformation, including organisational change, digital systems implementation, and operational scalability.
* Introduce and manage HR systems and tools (e.g. HRIS), driving improved data management and reporting.
* Promote a positive, inclusive, and forward-thinking culture in line with our values and goals.
* Ensure legal compliance with all UK employment legislation, providing sound, pragmatic advice.
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven HR generalist or HR Manager experience, ideally in a professional services or consultancy-based environment.
* Strong working knowledge of UK employment law, HR best practices, and change management.
* Experience operating as a standalone HR professional, ideally having set up or built HR functions previously.
* Commercially minded, tech-savvy, and adaptable – comfortable navigating a transforming, fast-paced environment.
* Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to operate at a senior level.
* Familiarity with HR systems (HRIS) and an understanding of the value technology can bring to HR operations.
* CIPD qualified (Level 5 minimum preferred) or equivalent practical experience.
