GCP Data Architect
Whitehall Resources require a GCP Data Architect to work with a key client on an initial 6-month contract. This role involves onsite work in London 3 days per week. Inside IR35.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced GCP Data architect to join our Architecture team as part of the current transformation programme. The successful candidate will design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure solutions on GCP. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud architectures.
Your responsibilities
* Collaborate with IT Business Leads and Stakeholders to develop and maintain IT Roadmaps across multiple domains.
* Contribute to IT Architectural bodies, ensuring solutions adhere to standards, principles, security, and regulatory requirements.
* Provide technology leadership and guidance to IT teams and Business units.
* Conduct Business Capability assessments and map them to IT solutions.
* Work within delivery teams to ensure high-quality project delivery within scope, time, and budget.
* Identify opportunities to improve IT solutions through automation and rationalization.
* Develop strategies for application upgrades, migrations, and retirements, managing dependencies and risks.
* Communicate architecture solutions effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
* Engage with IT teams to foster innovation and adopt new technologies.
* Stay updated on technology trends, especially in Insurance, with a proven track record as a Solution Architect in this sector.
* Design IT solution architectures with migration plans where necessary.
Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience
* Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, especially GCP, including hosting patterns, services, security, resilience, and operational excellence.
* Understanding of microservices, containerization, cloud-native architectures, and event-driven design.
* Knowledge of API standards, security, networking, and FinOps.
* Experience with data technologies like SQL/NoSQL and Big Data.
* Familiarity with enterprise cloud patterns, networks, security, and ingress/egress.
* Knowledge of ML/AI and data capabilities in GCP.
* Experience with key development technologies such as JavaScript, Java Spring Boot, and Python.
* Understanding of SDLC and SRE practices.
Desirable skills/knowledge/experience
* Experience in Banking & Finance industry.
* GCP certifications.
* Experience with ML/AI & Data tooling in GCP.
* Experience with agile and iterative design practices.
