Job Role: Quality Manager, fixed term (2 years)
Location: March Rd, Buckie
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday - full-time (flexibility required)
Reporting to: Technical Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Quality Manager to join our site-based Technical team on a fixed-term basis. The role has day-to-day responsibility for maintaining and developing the site's Quality Management System, ensuring full compliance with legal, food safety, and customer requirements.
Working closely with the Technical Manager and wider operational teams, you will play a key role in embedding a strong food safety culture and driving continuous improvement across the site.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain, implement, and communicate the site HACCP plan, ensuring compliance with all legal and customer standards.
Manage and carry out CCP verification and validation activities in line with regulatory and customer requirements.
Lead the day-to-day quality assurance activities on site, ensuring due diligence is maintained at all times.
Plan and conduct daily, weekly, and monthly audits, checks, and product sampling.
Train, coach, and support the QA team to ensure full understanding and compliance with food safety and quality procedures.
Work with the Technical Manager and Head of Technical to develop, monitor, and report on departmental KPIs, supporting continuous improvement.
Oversee the completion, review, and archiving of production and quality documentation to ensure full traceability and audit readiness.
Manage Quality Contracts, Quality Attribute Sheets, and factory specifications, working closely with Operations to ensure finished products meet agreed customer standards.
Conduct post-hygiene inspections and manage an effective environmental monitoring programme.
Lead the investigation of customer complaints using structured root cause analysis, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Support and participate in internal and external audits, including customer and third-party audits, as required.
Contribute to wider Technical department objectives and site improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
Degree in a relevant scientific or food-related discipline (preferred).
Strong working knowledge of food safety legislation, BRC standards, and retailer requirements.
HACCP, internal auditor, and food hygiene training.
Experience working within a food manufacturing environment; high-care experience desirable but not essential.
Proven ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
Strong organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Confident IT skills and experience working with quality systems and documentation.
