Role: Learning Mentor Location: Salford M27 Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday - 8:30 AM to 3:05 PM (4:00 PM finish one day a week) Pay: £13.69 to £15.87 per hour Start Date: September 2025 Duration: Long-term with a view to temp-to-perm Reeson Education is recruiting a proactive, emotionally intelligent Learning Mentor for an alternative provision setting based in the M30 area of Salford. This Learning Mentor role is full-time and long-term, starting September 2025, working Monday to Friday, with an earlier finish on four days and one extended day until 4:00 PM. A car and driving licence are essential due to outreach requirements. The setting is part of a well-established SEMH school, supporting pupils aged 11 to 16 with social, emotional, and mental health needs. You will work closely with a young person who has a history of brain trauma and experiences regular dysregulation. This Learning Mentor role will also involve outreach in the local community and working across different partner provisions. Learning Mentor Key Responsibilities: Work 1:1 as a Learning Mentor supporting a pupil with SEMH and complex behavioural needs Respond calmly and effectively to dysregulation, using trauma-informed strategies Build trust and routine through consistency, empathy, and structure Deliver targeted emotional regulation and engagement support sessions Travel to outreach settings as part of the Learning Mentor provision Liaise closely with families, external professionals, and school leaders Support re-engagement and reintegration of pupils into structured learning Act as a Learning Mentor role model - promoting resilience, confidence, and boundaries Track engagement, support strategies, and emotional development Provide a calm, firm, and caring presence as a trusted adult figureLearning Mentor Requirements: Experience in an SEMH school, alternative provision, youth work, or similar Strong behaviour management and trauma-aware communication skills Confident supporting dysregulated and high-needs pupils Understanding of emotional and neurological development, including brain injury Driving licence and access to a car (travel essential in this Learning Mentor role) Positive, empathetic, and patient personality Full-time availability and commitment to a long-term Learning Mentor placement Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply)Why join this school as a Learning Mentor?
