This is a secondment opportunity for a period of 12 months.
We are currently recruiting a Recycling Centre Site Manager to join our Waste Service Team.
As Site Manager, you will support Area Managers to ensure the recycling centres are operated safely and in accordance with all relevant permits, planning conditions, and ECC policies and procedures.
Please note this role will include working Saturdays and Sundays.

Accountabilities
1. Supervise all Site Operatives to ensure the smooth operation of a RCHW, maintaining a safe working environment and high standards of housekeeping for the public, visitors, staff, and contractors.
2. Line management responsibility for site operatives, including personal development, welfare meetings, and all aspects of people management.
3. Support the Area Manager with resource planning, leave requests, and return-to-work interviews post-sickness.
4. Deliver onsite training, toolbox talks, and refresher courses to ensure operatives understand and adhere to safety and operational standards.
5. Report defects, damage, accidents, or incidents involving employees, site users, visitors, or the public.
6. Coordinate with transport to maintain capacity and minimise service disruptions, ensuring all legislative requirements are met.
7. Operate in accordance with the Council’s health, safety, and environmental policies, permits, and risk assessments.
8. Contribute to site maintenance and improvements in collaboration with the Area Manager.
9. Assist with general site operations, including operating plant and equipment as needed, on a rota including weekends.
10. Deputise for the RCHW Area Manager as required.
The Experience You Will Bring
1. Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths or suitable experience.
2. CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 4 Medium Risk Operator Competence for Household Waste Recycling Centres.
3. IOSH Managing Safely training (desirable).
4. Experience in supervising employees, influencing others, and developing a team culture.
5. Good communication skills and experience dealing with the public.
6. Operational experience in waste management, specifically managing RCHW services.
7. Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle or mobility solutions.
