Long-Term Teachers is working in partnership with a highly respected independent college to recruit an experienced and compassionate Learning Mentor based in Plymouth. This is a full time, term-time only position. The Role: As a Learning Mentor, you’ll play a pivotal role in empowering learners aged 16 - 25 who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). You’ll work across various community-based learning environments, including libraries, work placements and leisure facilities, to support personal and educational development. Every day will bring variety as you guide students towards greater independence, employability and lifelong learning. Key Responsibilities: One-to-one and group mentoring of learners with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Supporting the delivery of person-centred learning in local community settings Assisting students in achieving accredited outcomes Encouraging independence and promoting social inclusion Facilitating access to work experience placements and vocational training Implementing Positive Behaviour Support strategies Using or being open to training in communication methods such as Makaton or Proloquo2Go About You: We’re looking for caring, motivated individuals with: Prior experience working with young people or adults with complex learning needs and/or behaviours that challenge A patient, empathetic approach to communication and learning Strong teamwork and adaptability skills A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the community (preferred) Training is provided and ongoing professional development is encouraged, making this a great opportunity for anyone looking to build a long-term career in SEND education.
