Overview
Business Unit Senior Quality Manager – Balfour Beatty, part of the one Alliance at Anglian Water. Key role based in Peterborough, hybrid with regular travel to sites.
Balfour Beatty works with Anglian Water and other partners in the one Alliance to deliver approximately 40% of the capital investment programme, focusing on nature‑based, sustainable solutions such as wetlands and urban drainage schemes.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership of quality assurance across sites, managing Quality Managers, Senior Quality Engineers and QA/QC Engineers.
* Establish and maintain robust inspection and assurance regimes, ensuring early issue identification and consistent handover readiness.
* Drive a right‑first‑time approach by identifying defects, leading corrective actions and preventing recurrence across the delivery programme.
* Oversee ITPs, witness testing and lifecycle quality assurance through construction, commissioning and asset handover.
* Deliver clear, data‑led insight through reports and dashboards, highlighting trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
* Translate quality performance into commercial impact, linking defects and rework to cost, programme and productivity.
* Build strong relationships with project teams, SHEA, commissioning teams and supply chain partners to align expectations and priorities.
* Champion digital and standardised quality approaches to improve consistency, efficiency and accuracy.
* Create a high‑performance, inclusive culture through visible leadership, coaching and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
* Significant experience leading quality assurance in complex construction or infrastructure environments, ideally within utilities or water.
* Strong knowledge of quality management systems, auditing and standards such as ISO 9001.
* A confident, values‑led leadership style, with the ability to challenge constructively and influence at all levels.
* Proven ability to use data and insight to drive improved outcomes, reduce rework and protect delivery milestones.
* Excellent communication skills, with the credibility to build trust across project teams, partners and stakeholders.
