Quality Manager – Lucy Zodion Limited

Job Purpose: As a dynamic and inspirational people leader, with a background in engineering and manufacturing, the Quality Manager will manage a team of Quality Engineers including HSE and administrators. The Quality Manager will work across all business boundaries but focus upon safe manufacturing processes within Sowerby Bridge and the in and out inspection of goods/equipment manufactured at other Lucy Electric sites globally. You will be involved in all aspects of the product life cycle to ensure end-to-end safety, environmental and quality management throughout equipment life. Additional responsibility includes timely resolution of Customer Support Incidents (CSI) to ensure corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) are identified and implemented business-wide. There is a focus on proactive collaboration across the business in quality, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain operations and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
* Accountable for working with the UK General Manager to produce HSE and quality strategy, identify goals and initiatives to support quality processes and deliver business results.
* Report to the LE Group Quality Director and collaborate with the global Lucy quality team, factories, suppliers, engineering teams and customers.
* Maintain and drive continuous improvement KPIs; lead reviews and apply continuous improvement methodologies and tools.
* Develop and implement quality systems compliant with Lucy Electric Quality Management System and industry regulatory requirements.
* Implement operations and HSE administrative policies, procedures, and standards as directed by the General Manager.
* Capture the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) from UK manufacture and recharge costs for global COPQ issues.
* Manage monthly quality cost centre and budgets; drive improvement in financial and KPI performance.
* Manage supplier quality, ensuring on-time in-full delivery and adherence to quality standards.
* Demonstrate company behaviours and values; lead by example.
* Seek development opportunities and apply new approaches in quality, engineering and manufacturing.
* Deliver process excellence and effective use of team resources; drive continuous improvement.
* Coordinate work across the Lucy Electric organisation in the UK and globally.

* Manage quality team resources by identifying roles, talent gaps and sourcing top talent.
* Ensure regular performance management for all quality team members.
Qualifications, Knowledge, And Experience
* LEAN Six Sigma qualifications (minimum Green Belt; Black Belt preferred)
* Experience in ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001 requirements
* LEAN manufacturing and CI methodologies experience
* Ability to work independently and in small teams and a global quality team
* Strong initiative, reliability and conscientiousness
* Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication; strong team-building
* Engineering competency including ability to read drawings and BOMs
* Experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA/DFMEA
* Structured problem solving using tools (Ishikawa, RCA, 5 Why, 8D, SPC, MSA)
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Microsoft D365 or similar QA-focused systems

Other Requirements
* Degree level education or equivalent in engineering/technical/manufacturing
* NEBOSH/IOSH qualifications
* Certificated people management experience
