CATERING MANAGER Dates: Apply by 9:00am Monday, 13 October 2025 Interviews: Friday, 17 October 2025 Salary: Grade 6 - £27,254 - £30,024 (£14.13 per hour - £15.56) per annum – pro rata Actual starting salary from £23,305 per annum Contract type: 37 hours per week Term-time plus 3 days Contract term: Permanent Required by: As soon as possible We are looking to appoint an experienced, self-motivated and committed Catering Manager with strong communication skills to join our friendly, experienced team. You would report to the Business Manager, but would also need to be able to inspire, supervise and develop a team of Catering Assistants. The role will ensure a smooth and efficient service across 3 lunch service areas. Our ideal candidate is someone who is creative and able to use initiative, your skills in working with colleagues and young people are as important as previous catering experience. IT and administrative skills are essential. Working hours are 6:30am – 14:30pm term -time and it would also be preferred if occasional out of hours could be worked for school events. Duties to include: You must be able to provide an effective, efficient and financially sustainable catering service Skilled cooking and preparation Operate a system of stock control Keep organised records of monitoring, training, cleaning, supplier details to demonstrate compliance and effectiveness Ordering of all food and other commodities required from designated suppliers. Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements relevant to the service, with particular regard to Health & Safety and Hygiene Regulations and control of food allergens Be responsible for delivering a good quality service that meets the required standards and the needs of the school Lead and provide catering for school events external to the canteen service Manage the Cashless Catering System across the canteens including reporting system Review staff training needs and arrange appropriate training with our external Catering Consultant company Have a sound knowledge and understanding of Government legislation on nutritional standards in schools Be fully conversant with HACCP King Edward VI School is a popular 11-18 comprehensive school rated Good by OfSTED in 2022 with recognition of outstanding practice and high expectations.
