Job overview
Due to expansion of imaging and diagnostic services at the Brompton site, the Bronchoscopy and Interventional Radiology team seek an adult trained band 6 nurse to assist with Bronchoscopy, Interventional Radiology. This role offers opportunities to develop skills in Interventional Pulmonology, Interventional Radiology, and Recovery.
The Royal Brompton in Chelsea provides Diagnostic, Interventional Radiology (IR), Bronchoscopy, and Recovery services.
We are recruiting a band 6 nurse with excellent care values, strong team spirit, and a desire to develop skills within the Bronchoscopy, Interventional Radiology & Recovery Team.

Main duties of the job
* Supporting and deputising for the Senior Nurse/Charge Nurse in clinical management, handling complex situations and emergencies.
* Responsible for the professional development and performance of delegated staff.
* Directing junior nurses, students, and HCAs to maintain high standards of care.
* Acting as role model and deputising for lead bronchoscopy nurses, supporting staff in complex patient care and emergency situations.
* Demonstrating expertise in specialist nursing care areas.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We provide tailored induction and training, supporting staff with minimal experience in bronchoscopy and related areas. New staff benefit from comprehensive induction and mentorship programs.

Main tasks and responsibilities
* Communicating effectively within the team and promoting good practice; supporting staff development and supervision.
* Providing holistic patient care, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care plans based on evidence-based practices.
* Ensuring medication safety, infection control, and safeguarding policies are followed.
* Coordinating discharges, managing patient flow, and ensuring bed management is effective.
* Monitoring care quality, participating in clinical governance, and maintaining documentation standards.
Policy & Service development
Leading local policy development, participating in policy implementation, and contributing to service improvements.
Resource management
Assisting in resource and budget management, promoting flexible staffing, and ensuring efficient use of supplies.
People management
Supporting staff attendance, performance, and development; assisting in recruitment and appraisals.
Information management
Conducting audits, analyzing data, and ensuring compliance with information governance policies.

Person specification
Education and Qualification
* Registered Nurse (Nursing/Midwifery)
* Post-registration respiratory courses (BSc or equivalent)
* Leadership or management qualification
* Teaching and assessing qualification
Experience & Knowledge
* Experience in leadership roles, IV and drug calculations, supporting junior staff, research, and audit.
Skills & Abilities
* Managing patients with respiratory conditions, applying evidence-based practice, leading difficult situations, and effective communication.
