Join the team at Wellesley Hospital as a Fitness Instructor, where you will work 37.5 hours a week and be part of meaningful change. You will join the Occupational Therapy team, facilitating all fitness-based activities within the Occupational Therapy timetable. You'll receive support from the OT team, which consists of Registered Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistants.
As part of the programme, you'll explore and promote different elements of a healthy lifestyle, covering key topics each week such as the importance of exercise, food groups, and lifestyle choices. You'll provide individual and group sessions in various locations, including a fully equipped gym and sports halls.

Responsibilities include:
* Designing, delivering, managing, and evaluating personal training programs, group fitness, and hospital-wide exercise sessions.
* Completing PARQ assessments and risk assessments.
* Understanding and educating others on anatomy, physiology, and their relation to exercise and health.
* Educating service users on nutrition, physical activity, and health.
* Carrying out audits and maintaining gym and fitness equipment.
* Collaborating with the OT department and other disciplines.
Requirements for success:
* Previous fitness instruction experience
* Knowledge of mental health
* Completion of relevant personal trainer education
* Experience in designing and delivering personal training programs
* Some knowledge of nutrition and healthy eating
* Experience in a mental health setting is not essential but beneficial
* Understanding of mental health conditions and motivation
Work location:
Wellesley Hospital, Westpark 26, Chelston, Wellington, Somerset, TA21 9FF. A purpose-built 101-bed hospital for men and women with mental health needs, including wards for Learning Disabilities and Autism.
