This role would help lead our award-winning visuals team in the development and creation of immersive visual stories and interactive tools. The candidate should be able to not only realise a designers vision but also be able to offer better approaches and help create a system that can scale as the team grows. This team is at the heart of Daily Mails growth strategy and you would help push the team further in the creation of agenda setting work. As a senior developer you would help lead the junior members of the team and set an example to them in the creation of digital-first news graphics. What we are looking for: Experience Developing for a news room environments Proven record of creating engaging and immersive visual stories Indepth knowledge of front end languages (React, Svelte) Ability to convert design ideas into fully realised web stories Be able to work across formats (Web, Mobile, App) Strong JavaScript fundamentals (ES6, async patterns, performance-aware code) Experience with animation libraries (GSAP, ScrollTrigger) Advanced CSS skills (complex layouts, motion, micro-interactions) Experience with Three.js or WebGL (big plus) Understanding of performance optimization (rendering, lazy loading, bundle size) Experience building scroll-driven / interactive storytelling pieces Basic understanding of accessibility (a11y) and cross-browser quirks Experience working with APIs and dynamic data A person should be: Able to handle stress in a fast paced environment Work well under pressure/time constraints Be open and approachable Collaborate with wider news room (Editors, picture desk, video desk) Work with AI team to help improve workflows and delivery
