Horsham Matters is seeking a passionate and reliable team member for a dual role combining catering and administration.
This unique position involves one day a week managing and providing food for our welcoming community café, The Connecting Café in Roffey. You will be working every Tuesday for 4.5 hours, between 9:30am and 2:00pm, in a fully equipped kitchen, preparing fresh, home-cooked meals for approx. 20 to 35 people. Then every Monday you will be supporting the office with administration. The role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety, working with people, and making a real difference in the community.
Café Responsibilities (1 day per week)
* Plan and prepare a simple, nutritious meal each week (typically a hot main and light dessert).
* Cook from scratch using fresh ingredients.
* Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety.
* Manage the kitchen space effectively and ensure it is cleaned after use.
* Work collaboratively with café volunteers to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Administration Responsibilities (1 day per week)
* Support clients with care and sensitivity, including issuing foodbank vouchers and providing office cover.
* Input data into spreadsheets, producing accurate weekly reports.
* Provide administrative support for Gift Aid processes.
* Assist with general office tasks to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
About You
* Experience in cooking meals from scratch, either professionally or in a community/large group setting.
* Basic Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 (or willingness to complete one).
* Reliable, flexible, and able to manage time effectively.
* Friendly, approachable, and community-minded, with the ability to support clients sensitively.
* Good organisational and administrative skills, with confidence using spreadsheets and managing data.
* Comfortable working independently in both kitchen and office settings.

* All applicants will be subject to a DBS check in line with Horsham Matters' safeguarding policy.
* Training and support will be provided.
