Job Title: Quality Manager Location: Cramlington Department: Quality We are recruiting for a leading engineering company specialising in precision welding and fabrication, custom machine building, and engineered solutions for a range of sectors. The role takes responsibility for developing, implementing, and maintaining the QMS to ensure that all products and processes meet internal and customer specifications as well as regulatory requirements. Additional oversight of some Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) responsibilities to promote a safe and compliant working environment. Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System in compliance with ISO 9001 and other relevant industry standards. Oversee welding and fabrication procedures, qualifications, codes and standards. Plan and conduct internal audits and support external audits Lead root cause analysis, non-conformance investigations, and corrective/preventive action processes. Work closely with engineering, production, and fabrication teams to ensure quality requirements are met at all stages of the process. Supervise the Quality Inspectors and Engineers and ensure adequate training and competency of inspection staff. Liaise with customers, suppliers, and third-party inspectors to resolve quality-related issues. Monitor and report on quality performance, metrics, and trends to senior management. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and improve processes Support the implementation and maintenance of HSE policies, procedures, and risk assessments Conduct periodic HSE inspections and audits to ensure compliance with legal and company requirements. Assist in the investigation and reporting of accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring effective corrective actions are taken. Qualifications and Experience: Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or similar Lead Auditor qualification for ISO 9001 (preferred). Experience with welding and fabrication quality Working knowledge of HSE management systems (e.g., ISO 45001) is an advantage. Proven experience in a similar Quality Manager or Senior Quality Engineer role in an engineering/manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of inspection techniques
